Artist Statement

"A painting is not a picture of an experience; it is an experience." - Mark Rothko

My art is an invitation to experience joy and gratitude in the everyday life.

Trained as an art therapist, my work is driven by psychology and emotion. I am fascinated by the creative process and symbolism that I find in abstract art. Abstract is like a gift that keeps on giving as it is so easy to get lost in it and discover something new every time.

In the past 5 years my artistic expression took shape in the form of abstract paintings. Going through grad school and studying psychology opened up my mind to see beyond the artistic aesthetics. I’ve discovered the healing power of art and developed a deep sense of curiosity and wonder. I also found hope and meaning in my work that I carry through each painting.

I use colors, textures, and layers to create paintings that are not only visually captivating but also emotionally stirring. Each painting is richly textured, layered with complexity, and executed with a diverse range of techniques. Starting with a deliberate mess on the canvas, I navigate through layers, finding meaning and discovering beauty amidst chaos.

I use oil and acrylic paint, inks, and pigments on canvas, to create multiple layers and textures. I work with diluted paint, pigments and inks to create the base and then build layers with heavy body paint to create a variety of textures by utilizing different painting tools and techniques to achieve a visually complex effect of interlaying shapes and colors.

BIO

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, I immigrated to the United States about 15 years ago and currently live in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Family, motherhood, meditation and yoga, two master’s degrees, and multiple careers pushed me to grow beyond anything I could imagine.

I carved my own path and am grateful for more love and more art that I get to give and experience every day.

Aside from my passion for art, I love traveling, reading self-help books and fantasy novels, and consider coffee and tea as absolute essentials.
